I've been reading a lot of books lately. I've always loved reading but one of my New Year's Resolutions was to read at least two books per month. I love requesting books from the library and going to pick them up when they are ready! There's no Kindle or Kobo for me - I'm a bit traditional when it comes to reading books from the library. And I've given up buying books - who has space to store them?!
I was telling one of my clients about some great books this week and then I realised, why not write a blog about it. So this blog is inspired by James, who has self-designated himself as "client of the month" for inspiring this post (thanks James!).
In no particular order, here are 5 books that I highly recommend adding to your summer holiday reading.

American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins
Why I loved this book - it's a gripping read that grabs you from the first chapter. A mother escaping the violence of a drug cartel with her young son to be illegal immigrants in the US. I held my breath for most of this book. It's not for the faint hearted.
The end of men by Christina Sweeney-Baird
I've always been into end of the world/disaster themed movies and books. However, this book is especially confronting now that we've lived through (are still living through) the pandemic of COVID-19. This book is told through many different characters but is still easy to follow (I hate books that you need a character tree to follow who is who!) The idea of an illness impacting only men is scary but makes you wonder what if this happened in real life.... An edge of your seat thriller - written by a young lawyer in the UK who clearly has a passion for writing books.
Rodham by Curtis Sittenfeld
I used to love following American politics. The political science nerd in me found the US political system quite fascinating. This is a work of fiction but does make you wonder - what would Hillary Clinton's life have been if she never married Bill Clinton? What could she have achieved? It's a page turner even if you aren't into American politics.
The last thing he told me by Laura Dave
I read this novel as it was a Reese Witherspoon book club pick. It's also going to be a TV show so get in and read it first! A suspenseful read about a husband who goes missing leaving his wife and her step-daughter with a note saying "Protect Her". I'm not going to spoil anymore - it's a slower burn that some other books but leaves you wanting to turn the page and know what happens.
Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister
I'm pretty annoying about this book - I am telling EVERYONE I know to read it. Mostly because I want to talk to someone about it. It's definitely in my top 5 books this year and a midnight page-turner. A mother witnesses her son kill someone but wakes up the next day and she's one day in the past. I'll leave it at that. GET THIS BOOK. It's fantastic.
Tell me some other books you suggest! I'd love to hear about what you are reading.
Till next time Wellspringers,
Holly

I have read American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld as well as Rodman and it was also really good. Along the same lines but really enjoyed it based on the life of Laura Bush. Holly thank you this is fantastic - I love a book referral.
I’m reading ‘The Space Between The Stars’ by Journalist Indira Naidoo. She writes about how after the sudden loss of her sister she found a unexpected solace in quiet moments under a giant fig tree in inner city Sydney: and how this led to discovering the power of being close to nature in a time of crisis. It's so beautifully written.
