Life means squat without you

For those Wellspringers who were here last year, you might recall the squat fundraiser last March. For the month of March, I did 57 squats a day to represent the 57 Australians diagnosed with this awful disease every single day. I had been thinking whether I wanted to do this fundraiser again (I'll be honest, I hadn't done the maths last year and WOW were my glutes sore!)
However, I've been hearing stories from my clients about their experiences with breast cancer and I took that as a sign. It is time to SQUAT again and raise money for this very worthwhile cause. Cancer has struck my family more than others (I've lost a brother to a brain tumor at aged 21 months and my Dad to oesophageal cancer in his mid 50s) so this hits close to home. My Aunty and grandmother both had breast cancer although survived thankfully. But not everyone is so lucky.
I have been doing 58 squats a day since 1 March. By turning up, I have been donating $1 for every Wellspringer who attends a session so you can show your support by coming to Pilates! And yes, you have been doing more extra squats in the studio this month. But it's for a good cause as well as your leg strength!
I take every squat seriously. Each squat I think of a person that will be diagnosed today. Sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed when I think of a mother, daughter, sister or friend whose whole life is about to be changed. I have so much to be grateful for - my health is something I never want to take for granted. Count yourself lucky that you can CHOOSE to go for a walk, a run, a Pilates class. There are people today that aren't as lucky and would do anything to move their body. Sometimes all we need is a little perspective and gratitude to shift our mood.
I want to take the time to thank so many of you for donating. I am incredibly grateful for your support.
If you'd like to donate, here is the link to my fundraising page.
I know there are so many valuable causes that you can support so please don't feel obliged to donate. By coming to Pilates, you are already a part of this fundraiser! So far we have raised $1499 and there is only 3 days to go!
Here's to building quad, glute and leg strength as we think of these 58 people diagnosed every day. And here is hoping that there is a cure in my lifetime. I really hope so.
Till next time Wellspringers,
Love Holly
xx
So so proud of you ❤️
