2026: The year to CREATE SPACE

I've just gotten back from holidays at Rainbow Beach. I love this holiday destination because it's familiar, relaxing and my mind has time to unwind.

When I went for a (very hot) walk along the beach, I thought about what I wanted from 2026. I love New Year's resolutions - they excite me! The opportunity to reset, change your frame of mind and make a year even better than the past is what I love.

I know some people hate New Year's resolutions and I get it. Saying things like "I want to save more money" or "I want to lose 5kg" can be difficult to achieve and most New Year's resolutions will fail by February.

In 2025, my resolution was simple.

DO HARD THINGS.

You will have heard me talk about it all year! I wanted to push my nervous system into an uncomfortable space as this helps build resilience as well as embrace new opportunities to do different things. Some of these achievements were going to the EKKA with the family (ok, this sounds small but I don't like crowds and am a massive germaphobe and I haven't been in over two decades!), learning how to play golf (I'm not good but damn the outfits make me feel like a million bucks) and getting strong (never did I think I would be able to lift 85kg). I also really focused on fueling my body with good nutritious food and eating lots of protein so I can build and maintain muscle for my future body. I've been working on improving my sleep quality after attending a longevity workshop and putting my phone away earlier has certainly helped. And seeing an integrative health doctor has helped identify some ways I can feel calmer but also more energised.

I finished out the year feeling stronger and healthier than I have in a very long time. Sure, everyone is a bit burnt out in December but I felt so much better than in previous years.

2026 is the year to CREATE SPACE

What does that mean? Well, I'm still figuring that out. And I'm ok with that.

One of the things that comes to mind is space for more joy. More laughter. More new experiences. More family time.

Basically, I want to be back in the 1990s. I want our weekends to be full of bike rides so that is why we all got new bikes for Christmas.

I want us to play board games again. We've been playing kids Monopoly these holidays (trust me, it's a much faster version than the original) and the kids absolutely love it.

I want the kids to call their friends/grandparents from a landline. So, we got a landline. My eldest is 8 and she is about to have an Ipad at school and we've said there won't be any messages on it (let's see how long we can last with this goal!) And her response? "That's ok, I will call my friends from our home phone".

I want to do more beach drives with our 4wd. Being outside is so good for the mind and the soul.

I want to play a monthly game of golf with my husband during the week (I mean, we have our own businesses so surely it comes with some perks right?) Quality time together is always the best gift.

I want to attempt more camping trips (the last one was bumpy with a vomiting child, nearly poisoning my husband with a beer that had dairy and a flat airbed). But this is what memories are made of, right?

It's time to slow down. Our kids are only little for such a short time and they will be 7 and 9 this year. If I don't CREATE SPACE for the important things now, we won't get another chance. And that means letting go of doing some things to CREATE SPACE for other things.

I also want to CREATE SPACE in my home - get rid of things that aren't serving me. We tend to accumulate so many items and January is a great time to donate, sell or dispose of items that we don't use or need.

I also want to CREATE SPACE for new opportunities. Let go of fear that is holding me back from doing something exciting. Who knows that this year will entail?

Here's to 2026 - the year to CREATE SPACE.

Tell me - are you with me? What do you want to create space for in your life?

Till next time Wellspringers,

Love Holly
