Holly's Holiday Reads - Round 6

For the book lovers out there, here are some Easter reads for you. If you want to catch up on some past blogs, they are linked below.

The Three Lives of Cate Kay by Kate Fagan

This is not normally a book I would want to read. I dislike books with multiple characters in different times that jump back and forth - I often have trouble following a book like that. But this book is marvellous. It's part romance, part drama and I didn't predict where this book was going - it kept me on my toes! It makes you feel deeply about friendships, past mistakes, your career, family and more. This was recommended by two Wellspringers - Ellen and Bec, you were right - this book is wonderful. Highly recommend.

It's One of Us by J.T Ellison

This book had me on the edge of my seat. A couple are struggling with infertility but then DNA linked to the husband is found at a crime scene. But... it's not his. Turns out he has donated his sperm and has a child that he didn't know about. What unfolds is a complex story about marriage, family and trust. Absolutely loved this book - read it in two nights as I couldn't put it down!

The Housemaid's Secret by Freida McFadden

This is the second book in the Housemaid series and I really enjoyed it. It's not as good as the first one but I was keen to read it and it didn't disappoint. Another psychological thriller - note there are triggers of domestic violence in this one. What someone is willing to do to help another person intrigues me. The twists in these books are very clever. And if you love this one, there's another one to read after "The Housemaid is watching". Tell me what you think if you give it a read.

The Nothing Man by Catherine Ryan Howard

This book reads like a true crime memoir - a 12 year girl survives when her whole family is murdered. She grows up to be an author and writes a book to help find the killer. What I love about this book is that is flips between the murderer and what he is doing today and the story of Eve, the woman who is obsessed with finding her family's killer. A gripping story that you won't want to put down.

None of this is True by Lisa Jewell

This story centres around two women who meet on their birthday at a local pub. One of them is a famous true crime podcaster and the other is an unassuming woman with a story to tell. It's hard to tell what is true and what isn't but you won't be able to look away. Another psychological thriller (clearly I like to be on the edge of my seat when I read a book). I loved it. Could not put it down.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry

This is the perfect rom-com when you want a relaxed and predictable holiday read. It has a "Christmas movie" vibe to it - you know the ones where a woman goes to a remote town to save a local business and meets a gorgeous man... you will see the ending coming a mile away. But that said, there is something comforting about reading a book that you know it will end well. It's the perfect holiday read. Who doesn't love love!

Got some books you recommend? Then tell me, I always love a tip on what to read.

Till next time Wellspringers,

Love Holly
